Who is Yusuf Estes?
Born in Texas in 1944, Yusuf Estes grew up in a devout Christian family and became an ordained minister. Alongside the ministry he built businesses across Texas, Oklahoma and Florida — music stores, entertainment, and a piano and organ trade.
In 1991 a business associate introduced him to an Egyptian man. Estes set out to convert him to Christianity. What followed — months of questions about Abraham, Moses, Jesus and the Bible — ended with Estes, his wife, his father and his children all entering Islam.
He went on to serve as a Muslim chaplain for the United States Bureau of Prisons, and in 2012 was named Islamic Personality of the Year at the Dubai International Holy Quran Award.
